Tradie Regaining Control

This tradie came to us when the overwhelm and exhaustion of "being it all" was becoming too much. At the time of approaching Bizily, he was:

  • using weekends and after hours to do the admin/bookkeeping and chase around to prepare for the following week
  • getting invoices out once a month or less often as he was relying on a friend to enter and send the invoices
  • had trouble keeping track of the jobs piling up and prioritising
  • experiencing email and phone fatigue - there was so much communication things were getting missed
  • lost in the tech - was not confident in dealing with computers, phones and apps. A specific struggle was the expectations of the big building companies and their complicated systems used for issuing jobs to contractors
  • not able to claim all claimable expenses because he relied on paper receipts and invoices which didn't always make it to the accountant.

How did Bizily Help?

  • Established accounting software and associated processes to fit his preferences and IT knowledge and experience
  • Developed and implemented procedures to ensure invoices are sent to clients the day the work is complete - he just sends a text message
  • All receipts are sent to Bizily at time of expenditure from phone so no need to keep paper copies
  • We check the email account and handle everything we can so he only receives and needs to respond to the important ones
  • Provide support, education and training on IT systems including how and when to use apps and software, identifying and addressing phishing and other suspicious emails and text messages on his behalf
  • Every week we process bank reconciliations, check on the wellbeing of the business and report back what he needs to know about.

Capitalising on Funding

The WA State Government had announced a funding opportunity for small and medium sized businesses to undertake projects that would establish strong foundations and help them become more sustainable in the long term.


A mining contractor approached Bizily for assistance to properly understand the criteria for the funding, and to develop a project plan and application for the funding.  They utilised this funding to introduce new software to their business, streamline their activities using automations and new technology, and had Bizily develop a comprehensive work health safety manual to meet the site access requirements of the local mine sites.

Uh Oh! Its the ATO!

A shop owner reached out to Bizily after receiving a letter from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) that they didn't understand. 


They had been paying a bookkeeper to undertake the financial recording of the business and ensure compliance requirements were met. The shop owner admits that they just assumed if there was anything that they needed to do, the Bookkeeper would advise.


However, when this letter came out, they decided it would be wise to seek a second opinion. Bizily was engaged to undertake an investigation into the situation of the business, and it was dire!

  • Group Certificates/Payroll Reporting had not been lodged for several years
  • Superannuation hadn't been lodged or paid
  • BAS's were years behind in lodgement and payment - the BAS's that were lodged were incorrect
  • Income Tax Returns for the Company had not been filed for several years
  • Income had been recorded incorrectly within the bookkeeping software and showed a turnover 38% higher than it should have due to funds transfers being considered income.

How did Bizily help?

Over the period of around 6 months, Bizily:
  • Contacted the ATO and explained the situation gaining an extension of the reporting requirements and some breathing space to act
  • Started a fresh file in the accounting software and entered everything using source documents and specialised software tools
  • Reconciled all bank accounts and determined ACTUAL income and expenses
  • Worked year by year to catch up on the reporting and lodgement requirements - including working with the clients Accountant to have the income tax returns lodged.
  • Worked with the ATO to negotiate a payment plan on the debt based on the correct records and accurate financial position of the business.
  • Established clear and detailed policies & procedures for the business to ensure they can't fall behind on their requirements again.
  • Continue to provide mentoring/bookkeeping services if and when the business owner feels swamped or just needs some extra support.
